AJM calls for professional and respectful communication with journalists

The Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM), following a complaint from a journalist of Sloboden Pechat, sent a letter to Avalon Production regarding the communication with the journalist during the press conference held ahead of David Guetta’s concert in Skopje.
AJM stressed that inappropriate language, personal remarks and a dismissive attitude towards journalists have no place in professional communication between event organizers and the media.
Journalists must be able to freely ask questions as part of their professional duties, regardless of whether those questions are comfortable or challenging for their interlocutors. Communication with journalists should always be based on respect for their professional role and the work they perform in the public interest.
AJM expects its intervention to contribute to avoiding similar situations in the future and reiterates its commitment to protecting the dignity, professional rights and working conditions of journalists.
