Regional meeting of AJM and SSNM with journalists and media workers from Kumanovo

Within the regional activities, representatives of AJM and SSNM had a working meeting with journalists and media workers from the Kumanovo region. During the meeting at which participated more than 15 representatives were discussed many topics that affect fellow correspondents, their status and the conditions in which they work, as well as shared experiences they face on a daily basis.
The President of AJM, Mladen Chadikovski in his welcoming address said: “AJM in the height of the pandemic last year helped in the interest of safety and health of journalists and media workers by providing protective equipment, antigen tests, vaccinations. AJM and SSNM participated and were a constructive partner in the adoption of government measures in the interest of journalists and media workers, as well as the process of increasing salaries in MRT and MIA, media fund and the preparation of security protocols,” said Chadikovski.

The colleagues from Kumanovo pointed out that currently the basic problem is existential, which reflects on the number of media, i.e., the number of journalists.
At the meeting in Kumanovo, some current problems were pointed out, as well as the problem with the correspondent network of MRT, i.e., the journalists have monthly contracts. As a coordinator in the Kumanovo region, the present colleagues unanimously voted for Nexhat Akifi who had a correct and highly professional relationship with the Association of Journalists of Macedonia in the interest of cooperation and the process of improving the conditions, workers’ rights and safety of journalists and media workers from Kumanovo. In his address to the audience, he emphasized the importance of such a working meeting and said: “Meetings of this type of journalists and media workers with representatives of AJM not only in this region but throughout the country are very useful and necessary so that they can timely to share the challenges and problems faced by journalists and media workers on a daily basis. Through frequent meetings, AJM will have greater coordination and will present solidarity in solving problems at both local and national level,” said Akifi.
