On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Association of Journalists of Macedonia, today were awarded the annual journalism awards of AJM.
The “Krste Petkov Misirkov” award for lifetime achievement was given to Aleksandar Chomovski, a long-time, a renowned journalist who is currently part of the Morning Briefing.
With his professional work in the past five decades, he is one of the top journalistic and editorial names in the Macedonian media, by promoting democratic values and nurturing and respecting journalistic standards, he marked the media space in his original creative way.
The “Jashar Erebara” award for Annual Investigative Journalism was shared by journalists Hristina Gjorgjievska for the story “Captured Lungs of the City” published on the digital platform “Vidi Vaka,” and Jasmina Jakimova, Bojan Sashevski, Emilija Petreska, and Daniel Evrosimoski continued the story in “Following in the footsteps of Lisa and Filipce, the Balkan lynx that united three countries” and “The untouchable killers of the Balkan lynx “published on Radio Moff.
The research stories on the topics chosen by the journalists are of exceptional importance in our country. Their goal is to raise environmental awareness and a healthy environment in the competent institutions and every citizen of our country.
The journalist from Kumanovo, Reshat Ibraimi from “News TV” with his video story “The sad fate of the bride from Albania” and his colleague Aleksandra Maksimovska from MIA, also a correspondent from Kumanovo with his topic “Legally invisible people from Kumanovo” shared the annual award for reporting on issues of local and regional importance for 2020.
The awarded stories comprehensively describe and try to bring closer to the citizens’ problems in the rural and less developed places in our country.
At the public competition this year, within the deadline, 20 applications for awards were submitted for all three categories, and members of the Commission for selection of awards were journalists Mira Kostic as president and as members Sashko Dimevski and Adnan Ajdari. The Association of Journalists of Macedonia this year again expresses great gratitude to all interested journalists and the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia which helped provide the funds for this year’s award fund.
