An attack by MPM on professional journalism

The dismissal of 20 employees of Media Print Macedonia, of which the majority of journalists from the daily newspaper Vest represents a planned attack on professional journalism and media freedom. After the replacement of chief editor Goran Mihajlovski, with the new lay-offs, management is dealing with reporters founders of the newspaper which do not allow abuse of journalism in the interests of power. Once the new editorial team failed to use the old glory of Vest to promote the pro-government positions, management resolved in killing the newspaper. With the lay-offs, the company’s management does not address the causes of the crisis. They should not look to lay off the founders of the newspaper that made Vest the most read newspaper in Macedonia, but in the new policy, which turned the newspaper into a pro-government fan. The world has not yet seen a meaningful successful media business model, which is based on politicized journalism. MPM is a typical example of how the media is used as a coin for bargaining to satisfy the interests of their owners and the government. Only in non-democratic countries, the media are sacrifice because of the business relationship between politics and business.
With respect,
