AJM: We demand an immediate and efficient investigation into the attacker of our colleague Ljubisa Ignatov

The Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM) asks the Ministry of Internal Affairs to conduct a quick and efficient investigation into today’s attack on our colleagues from TV24.
Today, while recording inserts for a video attachment for the needs of television, they were verbally and physically attacked by a person.
AJM immediately contacted TV24 cameraman Ljubisha Ignatov, who confirmed this incident and gave us specific information: “While we were filming inserts on str. Przhino, house N. 28/b, in which Oleksandr Onishchenko lives according to the voter list, the owner of the house, a certain person, Mile, physically attacked me after cursing and insulting me. The person swinging his elbow hit me in the head and my neck,” said Ignatov.
The case has been reported to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
AJM requests the Ministry of Interior to conduct a quick and efficient investigation to find and sanction the attacker. AJM immediately contacted the Skopje Public Prosecutor’s Office with prosecutor Iskra Hadji Vasileva, assigned to cases related to attacks on media workers, for further processing of the case.
AJM will follow the investigation and will insist on responsibility on the part of the person who physically attacked fellow cameraman Ignatov and prevented him from physically performing his work.
We emphasize that threats to life are crimes provided for in the Criminal Code. The Ministry of the Interior and the Public Prosecutor’s Office should urgently investigate and process them to punish those who violate the law and prevent possible such crimes in the future.
