AJM: Condemnation of hate speech on social networks against TV Alfa

The Journalists Association of Macedonia (AJM) strongly condemns the hate speech and calls for violence that have appeared on social networks, especially the comment by a certain Goran Kostovski, who calls for “burning the kumez in Vizbegovo”, alluding to TV Alfa.
Such statements not only pose a serious threat to media freedom and the safety of journalists, but also incite violence and intolerance in society. Public space, including social networks, must not be a place for inciting violence, but for constructive debate and exchange of opinions.
We call on the competent institutions, especially the Ministry of Interior and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, to immediately react and take appropriate measures against such hate speech. At the same time, we appeal to citizens to refrain from using speech that may incite violence and endanger the safety of media workers.
AJM remains committed to the protection of journalists and the promotion of freedom of expression within the framework of democratic principles and legal norms.
