On the invitation of the Association of Journalists of Macedonia, European expert Peter Vanhoutte is in Skopje this week, who, during the parties’ talks on resolving the political crisis, prepared a proposal for media reforms. AJM invited Vanhoutte to thank him for his contribution to the drafting of the media reform proposal and to use his lobbying experience with the new government to implement those proposals.
Yesterday, representatives of AJM and Vanhoutte had separate meetings with the Minister of Information Society and Administration Damjan Mancevski and representatives of the US Embassy.
During his stay in Skopje, Vanhoutte will meet with the representatives of AJM and the Forum of Journalists, with the diplomatic corps as well as with government officials.
Today a joint meeting with Prime Minister Zoran Zaev is scheduled, where they will discuss the need for media reforms in Macedonia. After meeting with Zaev, Vanhoutte and representatives of AJM will hold a press conference to share the impressions of the upcoming media reform process.
At the end of his stay in Macedonia, the former European mediator and the representatives of AJM will hold a joint briefing with representatives of the diplomatic corps in Skopje, which will once again highlight the need for reforms, as it is predicted in the proposal that emerged from the talks with the parties.
