AJM and UNDP Launch an Informal Network for Information Integrity

The Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM), in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), held the first consultative meeting at the Journalists’ Club in Skopje to initiate the establishment of an informal Network for Information Integrity in the Republic of North Macedonia.

The initiative is being implemented within the framework of the United Nations’ global support for information integrity networks and aims to create a platform for cooperation among institutions, media organisations, civil society organisations, academia, the technology community, and international partners in addressing contemporary challenges in the information environment.

During the meeting, the concept of the network was presented, and discussions were opened on its structure, priorities, and possible mechanisms for joint action. Participants exchanged views on how different societal actors can contribute to strengthening information integrity and enhancing public resilience to disinformation and manipulative content.

In the context of the growing misuse of digital technologies, the spread of disinformation, and hate speech, participants emphasised the need for a coordinated and focused approach, as well as strong partnerships, to safeguard citizens’ right to accurate, reliable, and diverse information.

AJM and UNDP will continue to work with all interested stakeholders on the further development of this initiative, to establish a sustainable network that will contribute to improving the media environment, strengthening democratic processes, and enhancing trust in the public information space
