At the request of the Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM), a meeting was held between the Mayor of the City of Skopje, Danela Arsovska, with President Mladen Chadikovski and representatives of AJM.
At the meeting, AJM representatives and Mayor Arsovska discussed holding regular briefings with journalists as a way to improve the transparency of the City of Skopje, and it is in the interest of both parties and the public to be briefed weekly on events related to the work of the city.
AJM’s position is that it is very important for the administration of the City of Skopje to be open and transparent to journalists because they play a key role in informing the public. Professional journalists help elected officials be transparent to citizens by reporting on their activities, policies, and results, thus building trust and credibility. In addition, with the free flow of information, it is possible to move towards a functional democracy.
