The Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM) condemns parliamentarian Dimitar Stevanandzija because he posted photo on his Twitter profile from our colleagues Borjan Jovanovski and Bobi Hristov who were allegedly guests at the opening of a controversial restaurant in Ohrid. According to colleagues Jovanovski and Hristov, this photo was taken in the City Trade Center – Skopje, and this post serves to cause damage to the image of journalists in public.
The Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM) points out that the labeling journalists and spreading misinformation, especially by elected representatives in the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, can seriously harm the professional integrity and reputation of journalists, and this lower the public’s trust in the media.
In addition, public figures, and especially MPs, should set an example and pay particular attention to the way they communicate with journalists and the general public.
We urge Stevanandzija to publicly apologize to the journalists for the caused problems.
